We inspect the concrete slab above for staining, mineral deposits (white powder efflorescence indicates past water contact), and any existing gypsum board for damp patches. Gypsum board ceilings are faster to install, have cleaner joints, and are more resistant to cracking over time — they are our standard recommendation. POP (Plaster of Paris) ceilings are typically used for decorative cornices, custom shapes, or traditional designs — they allow more sculptural freedom but require skilled plasterers and crack more easily with building settlement. For Bangalore apartments with standard 9-foot heights and modern interiors, gypsum is almost always the right choice.
