2700K (warm white) for residential cove lighting — the warmth of this temperature reads as comfortable and relaxing in the evening, which is when the cove LED is most used. Avoid 4000K or 5000K for residential cove lights — they produce a blue-white cast that makes the room feel clinical rather than inviting.

Only if it is designed as a flat dropped slab. A well-designed false ceiling uses peripheral coves (which appear to float the ceiling rather than lower it), central frames with a step-up (which create an illusion of the ceiling being higher at the centre), or perimeter bulkheads that guide the eye upward. In rooms under 9 feet, we typically avoid dropping the full ceiling by more than 4–6 inches — enough to conceal the electrical wiring but not enough to feel cramped.

Gypsum board ceilings are faster to install, have cleaner joints, and are more resistant to cracking over time — they are our standard recommendation. POP (Plaster of Paris) ceilings are typically used for decorative cornices, custom shapes, or traditional designs — they allow more sculptural freedom but require skilled plasterers and crack more easily with building settlement. For Bangalore apartments with standard 9-foot heights and modern interiors, gypsum is almost always the right choice.
