About This Service

What Makes Our False Ceilings & Lighting Different

A false ceiling does three things a bare concrete slab cannot: it controls the visual height of a room, it defines zones within an open space, and it integrates lighting in a way that transforms how a room feels after dark. In a Bangalore apartment where every room has the same 9-foot concrete ceiling, a well-designed false ceiling is one of the most cost-effective ways to give each room its own character. The difference between a flat suspended ceiling (which simply lowers the height and adds nothing) and a designed false ceiling with coves, recessed lights, and framed sections is significant — both in appearance and in the feeling of the room.

Built for Bangalore

False ceilings in Bangalore need to account for one issue that is rarely discussed: water ingress from the flat above. A significant number of Bangalore apartment buildings have waterproofing failures in upper-floor bathrooms or balconies — this water travels along the concrete slab and appears as staining on the flat below. If you are installing a false ceiling and there is any history of seepage from above, we insist on resolving the waterproofing source before installing the ceiling — otherwise you will be cutting open your new gypsum ceiling six months later. We inspect for historic staining marks during the site visit and flag them before starting work.

How We Work

How We Deliver False Ceilings & Lighting

A transparent, step-by-step journey from first call to final handover.

Room Analysis & Lighting Brief

We understand how you use each room, what activities happen and at what times, and your preferred lighting mood — warm and intimate vs cool and task-oriented.

Ceiling Design

We design the false ceiling layout: framing, cove positions, recessed light grid, fan position, and any special features (a suspended gypsum island, a wooden panel section, or a backlit niche).

Electrical Coordination

We co-ordinate with your electrician to plan wiring routes before the ceiling is boarded — all conduit runs are planned before any plaster is applied, not after.

Fabrication & Installation

GI frame installation, gypsum boarding, jointing compound and sanding, painting. LED strip and recessed light installation after the ceiling surface is complete.

Commissioning

We test every light fitting, set switch groupings with your electrician, and provide a lighting guide explaining which switch does what.

False Ceilings & Lighting — Frequently Asked Questions

Will a false ceiling make my room feel lower?

Only if it is designed as a flat dropped slab. A well-designed false ceiling uses peripheral coves (which appear to float the ceiling rather than lower it), central frames with a step-up (which create an illusion of the ceiling being higher at the centre), or perimeter bulkheads that guide the eye upward. In rooms under 9 feet, we typically avoid dropping the full ceiling by more than 4–6 inches — enough to conceal the electrical wiring but not enough to feel cramped.

What is the difference between gypsum and POP false ceilings?

Gypsum board ceilings are faster to install, have cleaner joints, and are more resistant to cracking over time — they are our standard recommendation. POP (Plaster of Paris) ceilings are typically used for decorative cornices, custom shapes, or traditional designs — they allow more sculptural freedom but require skilled plasterers and crack more easily with building settlement. For Bangalore apartments with standard 9-foot heights and modern interiors, gypsum is almost always the right choice.

What types of lights work best in a false ceiling?

Recessed LED downlights (warm white, 2700–3000K) as the primary ambient light source; LED cove strips for indirect, mood lighting along the ceiling perimeter; and pendant or chandelier for the dining table or a statement spot. We recommend a minimum of three independently switched zones in every room: main downlights, cove lights, and a bedside or task light. This gives you genuine lighting flexibility rather than one bright/dark option.

How much does a false ceiling cost in Bangalore?

A standard false ceiling for a 150 sq ft room (gypsum board, 4 recessed lights, cove LED strip, paint) costs approximately ₹18,000–₹28,000. Complex designs with multi-level coves, wood panelling, or large decorative elements in living rooms cost ₹35,000–₹65,000 for the ceiling alone. We provide room-by-room quotes.
